Compost is a mix of old-skool perl cgi with modern web framework ideas.
Compost is not a web programming framework, end users are not expected to be able to program.
Compost does not expect there to be a database to connect to, although some apps may require one.
Compost is not designed for dynamic web services, although some apps may be dynamic, generally Compost is focussed on producing static content.
Compost provides some useful perl support code, for running cgi apps in a coherant way. Compost provides standard cgi apps for most common tasks that untechnical users will want.
It's designed for simplicity, static page views, templating.
